I did a lot of reading into epilation before I bought the Philips Satinelle. I exfoliated and shaved several days before the first use (and exfoliated again minus shaving the day of first use.)

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare yourselves for a long review.
Male opinion of this epilator….

OK…I’m a guy and I use epilation to remove body hair that I don’t really care for…I have tried my wife’s epilation prior to purchasing my own…mainly because she would nag too much about her epilator being left unclean etc….she told me to buy my own. I have tried a few of hers which include the Braun and an Emjoi…
Best quality product I ever had. Great for your legs.

I feel obliged to leave a review of this product because I bought my first Philips Satinelle 20 years ago and worked perfectly until last week, suffered several falls and resisted like no other product I ever have owed. I was always struck by its excellent quality. For obvious reasons I just bought the same model in 2017, I hope they keep the same quality.
I love this. I rarely pick up tweezers anymore.
This thing is so cool. I did not get it for my face or legs or chest or arms or any private area. I got it for all the annoying stray hairs on my upper back and shoulders. I also use it on my feet sometimes. It’s a little painful and depends on your tolerance for pain. I am not one of those people who go for tattoos or piercings and I prefer to keep my body intact. My pain threshold is low. This just stings a little at first, and my pores broke out afterwards with red bumps the first time. After a few times using it, my skin doesn’t react badly anymore. It makes me want to sing that John Mellencamp song “Hurts So Good.” On my back and shoulders it’s not painful at all, but I wouldn’t dare use it on sensitive areas like my face or lower regions. I suppose it’s no more painful than waxing, but I’m a man, so hair on my body is ok. I only use this sparingly on certain areas. It’s way faster than using tweezers and surprisingly it works very well. It even pulls out small light hairs that I didn’t know were there. It actually feels a bit therapeutic around my upper back and shoulders. I wish someone else would use it on me instead of me having to do it myself. The only time I use tweezers now is for the hairs in my nose! Now that stings!

This is my second satinelle. The electrical cord stop making a good connection to the device after a year. Considering the price i cant complain. Its less than the price of a full leg waxing so i got my moneys worth. This is excellent for coarse hair. It does break some hairs off. So does my $125 braun silk epil 9. All epliators break hairs. Thems the breaks kiddo. Though my silk epil is fab on fine hair on my thighs that my satinelle either ignores or chews into a hash. I use them both in concert for baby smooth results. I epilate between every week and every two weeks. Its the only way to remove hair if you’re a busy person. I dont have time/money for waxing and i certainly cant spend 15/20 minutes shaving everyday. 30-45 minutes every 7-10 days on my day off is perfect to be silky smooth. I ❤ epliators!
Love it!!! AFTER the first round…

Words cannot express how much I love this thing. I cannot shave my armpits with a blade because I immediately break out in red bumps and I wasn’t sensitive when I was younger. I was using a cheap electric razor but I needed a better solution. I considered an expensive electric razor that men swear by (even on their heads) but I wanted to try this first since it was more economical.
